Really, seriously? You just read the title of this post and landed here to know about dating in Islam? Were you expecting some dating tips as a Muslim boy/ girl? I know that is one too many questions in my first sentence.
Let me set the context; amongst many other things that are prohibited in the religion, dating is one of them. It’s not as simple to follow and not as simple as the 10 commandments received by Prophet Moses as a matter a fact. There are many restrictions of how a woman OR a man should behave in the society. They are mainly about attire, the kind of clothing that should be worn by women in public or social gatherings when there are men around it’s called the burkha. For those who are too lazy to visit the link; check out arab women, pictures on Google and you will find women dressed as Batman – that’s the gown worn over everything else. This is the attire for women; but wait Islam is not gender bias it also has rules for men’s attire. Men too are to dress themselves where most of the body is covered and only the face is shown. So you will rarely find a bare chested Muslim man posing on any poster or in cinema. You could tell I am lying there meet Salman Khan that doesn’t need an invitation to bare chest himself on the screen.
However, times have changed and the Muslim youth are working themselves through the religious barriers by either educating themselves and taking up jobs in countries that do not impose such restrictions on attire and social life. The shocking bonus was when women in the country of Saudi Arabiawere recently allowed to drive. Primitive as it may sound; women are only allowed to be around their family i.e. parents/ husbands without much restriction. If a guest entered the house; she would have to run to get an attire change OR hide behind a veil also known as Parda/ Curtain.
The topic for this post is very complex; given to the nature of the different cultures followed by members of the same religion. Geography also has a great influence. A teenage Muslim in Arab countries would not be same as a Muslim in Western countries; although the restrictions are not geographically limiting. Islam is a universal religion; it’s your fault that you are ignorant of it.
In conclusion; any form of attraction, intimacy before the Nikah i.e. marriage is prohibited in the religion; sorry, fornicating, masturbation and any kind of sexual pleasure indulgence is also prohibited. If you are Gay/Lesbian/ Transgender; rest be assured you will be the gifted of hell fire and the wrath of the Almighty!
